Almost always per square metre for labour, with tiles, adhesive and grout either supplied by you or added to the quote. The quote in the app makes clear which.
Do I need screeding first?
If the floor is uneven, yes, and skipping it is why tiles crack or sound hollow later. The tiler checks the surface before quoting and tells you if it is needed.
How many extra tiles should I buy?
Around ten percent more than the measured area, to cover cuts and breakages, and to leave spares for future repairs in the same batch and shade.
